Eunice Harmon Porter, devoted wife, mother, sister and friend, age 86, of Amelia quietly joined the angels in heaven to be with the LORD on May 9, 2017. She was born in Galax, Virginia and was predeceased by her mother, Laura Harmon, father, Charlie Harmon, brother, Charles Roy Harmon, half-brothers, Everett Sikes and Robert Sikes, half-sister, Annie Sikes Stoneman, and son, Jerry Porter. Eunice is survived by her husband, Dolphis Porter of Amelia, sister Mary Lowe of Hillsville, brother James Harmon and his wife Nellie of Pipers Gap, daughter Elizabeth Johnson and her husband Frank of Deltaville, daughter Jan Genero and her husband Joe of Midlothian, daughter-in-law Debra Porter of Midlothian, five grandchildren, Stephanie Porter, Sarah Porter, Ricky Porter, Grayson Johnson and Cullen Johnson, great-granddaughter Elaina Porter, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 12, 2017, at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home Chapel 16409 Court Street, Amelia Court House, VA 23002 with a private family service at the Amelia Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends at home after service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Amelia Emergency Rescue, Cedar Hill Baptist Church in Blackstone, VA and American Family Association in Tupelo, MS.
