Gertrude M. (McRoberts) Wright

Gertrude Wright, age 97, of Amelia went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2016. She was born and raised in Ivanhoe Virginia.  In 1991 Gertrude came to live with her daughter, Barbara Alley and son in law, Richard Alley in Amelia. After becoming ill, she went to live at the Amelia Nursing home. The family would like to express their gratitude for the excellent care she received while living at the nursing home. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Wright and son Jackie Wright. Also her mother & father, George & Maggie McRoberts and Bill & Edgar McRoberts (brothers) & Mary King & Ruby Martin (sisters). Survivors include Georgia Martin (sister), Barbara Alley (daughter), granddaughter Sherry Beran (Danny), grandson Richard Alley Jr. (Susan), great-grandchildren Kristin Krupp (Bryan), Casie Woodfin (William), Benjamin Beran (Jamie), Joseph Beran, and Nicole Alley. Great great-grandchildren Jacob Beran, Anders Krupp and Alley Woodfin. The family will receive friends on May 11, 2016, 6-8 pm at the Hillman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St., in Amelia. A service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 12:00 pm  Baker’s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church 3113 Ivanhoe Road Wytheville, VA 24382 followed by the burial at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ivanhoe, VA 24350. In lieu of flowers, donations to the church.
