Juanita Morris Smith, age 92, of Amelia, passed from this life on Sept. 10, 2016. She is preceded in death by husband of 70 years Glen David Smith, and her parents, Bernard and Mary Morris, her brother, Gordon Morris, and One of the sweetest Angels, Little Bobby Smith, Glen’s Down Syndrome sister who shared their home for many years. She is survived by her sisters, Maxine Morris Perez (Rudy-deceased) of Midlothian, and Nancy Morris Barden (Ed) of Clarksville, Va., beloved cousin Betty Hartman (Bobby-deceased), many nieces and nephews and her loyal and knowledgeable caregivers. During WWII Juanita served six years in the Navy, two years active in Washington, D. C., and four in the Naval Reserve. She retired from VDOT after 51 years of service. She was a Lifetime member of the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, DAV, and DAV Auxiliary. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday Sept. 14, at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery with military honors following. Visitation will be Tuesday Sept. 13, at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St. in Amelia, Va. from 6:00-8:00PM. In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to donors favorite charity.
