Margaret Lee “Peggy” Flippin, age 76, of Jetersville went to be with the Lord suddenly on April 5, 2016. She was born October 16, 1939 in Crewe, Va., the daughter of Peyton Benjamin Childress and Adelaide Elizabeth (Eppes) Childress. In 1958, she married her high school sweetheart Reginald “Reggie” Flippin. Peggy was a long time resident of Amelia County and well known in the community. She served as the Treasurer for Amelia County from 1987 until her retirement in 1995. Peggy had over 38 years of service at the Amelia County Treasurer’s Office. She was a member of Trinity UMC in Amelia and a former member of the Amelia Ruritan Club. Peggy had a passion for painting. Her passion for painting led her to participate in classes with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts for many years. Her artwork had even been featured at numerous galleries. Along with painting, she enjoyed gardening, bird watching and cooking for her family. Peggy loved to travel with her family and friends. Peggy is survived by her husband, Reginald Flippin Sr.; sons, Reginald “Jay” Flippin Jr. (Kathy) and Mark Flippin (Tammy); grandchildren, Ashley, Allie, Beth, Sarah, Heather, Taylor, and Meghan; great grandchildren, Adyson and Logan. Memorial contributions may be made to Amelia Fire Dept., Trinity UMC or the Nunnally House in Brunswick, GA. Family will receive friends between 9-11 am followed immediately by a memorial service on Saturday April 16, 2016 at Amelia Academy 8741 N. Five Forks Road, Amelia, Va. 23002. Interment is private for the family.
