Richard Marvin Watkins, age 95, of Amelia County went home to the Lord on July 1, 2015 at his home in Amelia. He was a native of Amelia County and was the widower of Virginia Shank Watkins. Mr. Watkins joined the United States Army in 1941 and was a veteran of WWII. During his service he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Upon returning home, he began a lifelong, dedicated career as a successful Dairyman of LandVue Farm, in Amelia County. He is survived by his daughter Joan Jones and her husband J. D. of Midlothian; daughter Nancy Bollinger and her husband Gary of Moseley; son Richard Watkins and his wife Lisa of Amelia; five grandchildren, Tonya Bruno and her husband Ralph of Hillsborough, N. C. ; Donna Jones of Midlothian; Jeremy Bollinger and his wife Tiffani of Willow Spring, N. C., Kimberly Adams and her husband Mel of Powhatan; Erick Watkins of Amelia; six great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Friday at Tabernacle UMC 6100 Tabernacle Church Lane in Amelia with burial in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided at the gravesite to honor his military service in the US Army. The family will receive friends from 11AM to time of service in the church.
