Bobby Watkins Kennedy, age 85, of Amelia, Virginia was surrounded by his loving family as he peacefully moved on to the warm embrace of the Lord and those loved ones who have departed this life before him. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Belle Pigg Kennedy and is overjoyed to rejoin his loving wife of 57 years once again in the house she has been preparing during the last 4 years for them in heaven. He is survived by his dearly beloved son Mark Kennedy (Patricia) of Pamplin, VA, along with his cherished daughter Karen Cooley (Charles) of Charlotte, NC. Family left behind to cherish decades of precious memories are his dear sister, Sandra Kennedy Hodge; sisters-in-law, Louise Pigg Boettcher (Lewis) of Drakes Branch, VA; Georgia Pigg Lewis of South Hill, VA; brothers-in-law, George “Buddy” Pigg of Burkeville, VA and Dennis Strole of Amelia, VA; along with many nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors and the Sandy Creek Church family. Bobby grew up in Southside Richmond and graduated from John Marshall High School. He served his country in the Air Force and National Guard between 1951 to 1954. He worked as a printer by profession and retired from GBC in Amelia in 1995. He was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church for 44 years and was so proud to be credited with founding the youth group there. He and his wife Mary Belle worked tirelessly to raise funds to build the Paineville Fire Department. Of course his most precious accomplishment was his family and the many lives he touched by being the witty, kind and generous man that he was.
The visitation will be at Sandy Creek Baptist Church Thursday July 5, at 11:00 am with the funeral following at 12:00 Noon. Burial will immediately follow the funeral in the Sandy Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
