I am so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. As a child, I spent my summers with my grandparents in Amelia and visited with the Kidd family often. I felt as if Brenda, Bob’s sister, was MY sister...thus, Bob was My big brother, too! He teased us a lot...but was always there to help out in our time of need...we loved him!!! Know he will be missed by all. With love, hugs and sympathy, Joan Fleming Smith

Bob was my high school coach at Woolwine from ‘61-‘64 where we had an 80 and 18 record in basketball with 2 District and 1 State Runnerup championship, as well as a District baseball championship. He was a tremendous coach that taught not only the physical requirements of winning but also the mental aspects. He said when we walked onto the court we had to we were the best team and that we were going to win. We didn’t lose many. He liked popcorn, cigars and the Kingston Trio. If you played for him you had to dedicate yourself to the sport and he taught us to win. I guess it also produced a big athletic ego in some of us so my wife says. I always thought the world of both him and Judy. My prayers to the family.

What fond memories I have of working with Coach Kidd at Nottoway Miiddle School. I kept score for his boys' baseball team one season - what fun! He was a great asset to our faculty. Boyd was the one who started calling me "Ms. Hooper-Carter" when I wasn't used to answering to my new married name! A wonderful man who loved his students.
