Dorothy Anne Coleman, 73 of Amelia, passed away at Chippenham Hospital unexpectedly on Saturday, March 10, 2018. She was predeceased by her father Harry Lee Coleman, her mother Dorothy Long Coleman and her brother Richard Lee Coleman. She was a graduate of Amelia County High school and later a graduate of Southside Community Hospital Nursing Program. She worked for many years in pediatric nursing and hospice care in Tucson Arizona. While living in Amelia she worked as a dental assistant, home health nurse, daycare owner and retired as a school nurse from Amelia County Public Schools. After her retirement she continued to provide personal care for various elderly people of the county. She enjoyed gardening and going for long walks with her dogs Misty, Sissy Faith, and Toby with her best friend Mary Ann Richie and Patsy Aaron. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her friends and family. She is survived by her sons John David Morris of Charlottesville, Kelly Lee Morris (Audra Morris), her daughter Kristy Anne Minton (John Minton), and her brother W. David Coleman (Diane Coleman) all of Amelia. She has ten loving grandchildren Ashli Tanner (Josh), Mikayla Minton, Holt Morris, Sarah Morris, Josh Bowman, Tucker Morris, Jessica Morris, Leah Morris, Emma Vaughan, and Marlena Minton. The family will be receiving visitors on Friday, March 16th from 6-8 pm with funeral services on Saturday March 17th at 11:00 am both at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St. in Amelia. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Friends of Barnabas Foundation ( www.fbof.org) 804-744-5624. The family will gather at the home of Kelly Morris at 15470 Elm Cottage Road in Amelia following the services. Interment is private.
