Elizabeth Taylor Wetsel age 96 of Amelia County died on May 2, 2018, at Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Midlothian, Virginia. She was born on August 15, 1921, in Greene County, Virginia. She was one of two daughters of John and Louise Taylor. She graduated from Mary Washington College in 1942. She taught for many years in the public schools and retired as Guidance Director of Amelia County High School. She and her husband, John, farmed for decades in Amelia County. She was active in the Amelia Garden Club and was a former member and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hamner Library in Amelia. She was a member and past Sunday School Teacher at Amelia Baptist Church and was a staunch Baptist her entire life. Her husband of 67 years, John Wetsel, predeceased her. She is survived by her three children, John E. Wetsel, Jr. (Kathy) of Winchester, Virginia, Thomas G. Wetsel (Jane) of Seven Lakes, North Carolina, and Taylora W. Dunford (Ned) of Midlothian, Virginia; her seven grandchildren, Amanda Wetsel, Whitney Pinna (Jim), Michael Wetsel Taylor Dunford (Andrea), Haley Wetsel, Ann Turner Dunford, and Tarrant Dunford, and her five great-grandchildren, William and Peter Pinna, Quinn and Annabelle Dunford, and Holden Wetsel.
A funeral service will be held on May 7, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, Virginia.
