Eva Devon (Brooks) Moore, formerly of Pocahontas, VA and Amelia, VA passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on the morning of August 7, 2018. She was born in Boissevain, VA to the late Ervin Lee Brooks and Cora Bell (Willard) Brooks. Eva was the fifth of seven children.
Eva was preceded by five of her sisters, brother, grandson Jeff, and loving husband Walter Moore. She is survived by her two sons, Glen Moore (Janna), Jerry Moore (Barbara), and daughter Mary Alice (Moore) Sanders (Steven); six grandchildren, David Moore (Karen), Jeremy Moore, Christopher White (Misti), Eric Moore, Jon Moore, Travis Moore; and Meghan Sanders; eight great-grandchildren; Trenton, Jackson, Kaitlyn, Christopher Jr., Bryce, Jessica, Tara, and Jimmy; and one great-great-grandson, Dash. Eva is also survived by one sister, Omia Bell Boone.
Eva was a kind and loving person to her family and everyone she knew. She worked joyously throughout her life in service to her churches and to the communities where she lived. No job was too small or big for her. She had a special gift of making everyone feel at ease, befriended, and always welcome. She loved to cook and while living in Pocahontas, VA she took great joy in the annual Hungarian Cabbage Roll Dinner at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church for over 50 years.
Funeral Services will be held on September 20, 2018 at Good Samaritan Catholic Church 13441 Patrick Henry Highway in Amelia, VA with burial following in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Road in Amelia. A lunch will follow the burial at the church for friends and family.
