Maxine B. Rowe, 88

Passed away peacefully on April 12, 2018   Longtime resident of Richmond and, for the last 30 years, of Amelia, Va. Survived by: her husband of 70 years, James Garland Rowe; her children Stephen M. Rowe and Pamela Rowe Fearn, son-in-law Robert W. Fearn; grandchildren James Hampton Rowe, Libby R. Hooker and great grandsons Conley and George, and much loved kitties Thomas and Jackson.  Also by her sister, Betty Newcomb, her husband Billy, many nieces/nephews; other family members and long time devoted friends. Predeceased by her brother James Hardy Boswell.   A lover of history who enjoyed gardening, and theater, Maxine was an artist, an avid reader of mysteries, and a lover of life who cared deeply for animals.  Maxine organized many community improvement activities including serving as President of:  Chesmond Women’s Club of Richmond, Amelia County Garden Club, and Amelia Historical Society where she coordinated saving and moving a historic cabin.  She organized the Sunflowers at Amelia Presbyterian Church to raise funds to build the fellowship hall and taught Sunday School there.   She loved being associated with the Amelia Memorial Garden on Virginia Street. In Lieu of flowers please donate to Amelia Animal Shelter or the Amelia Emergency Squad.   A Celebration of Life of will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Amelia Presbyterian Church, Saturday April 28th at 1 p.m..
