Allan "Bruce" Smith, age 70, of Highland Springs, VA, went to be with his Lord on June 21, 2019.  He is preceded in death by his parents, John Arthur Smith, Sr. and Ruth Nurney Smith; and siblings, John Arthur Smith, Jr., Neil Wayne Smith and Sharon Smith Goodman.  He is survived by his daughter Holly Marie Smith; sisters, Deborah Jeffers and Rebecca Smith, and sister-in-law Lera Smith.  He is also survived by two grandchildren, Kevin Dale Texter and Cassidy Linda Texter.  Bruce also left behind many nieces, nephews and good friends.  Bruce was a Veteran of the United States Army and retired from Richfood.  He was an avid outdoorsman loving fishing and all animals.  He also loved singing, dancing and cars.  Bruce often said his greatest accomplishment in life was his devoted daughter, Holly. Bruce was a free spirit that loved life.  He never met a stranger.  Every day was a new and exciting adventure for him to meet a new friend and a chance to share some great stories. The service for Bruce will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 2:00pm at Virginia Veterans Cemetery  10300 Pridesville Road Amelia Court House, VA 23002 followed by military honors.  In lieu of flowers please make donations to:  Richmond Animal Care and Control 1600 Chamberlayne Ave. Richmond, VA  23002.
