Alma Barnard Lynn, 87, died at Rappahannock General Hospital, Kilmarnock, VA on March 29,2010. She is survived by her 3 children; Pamela Hemp and husband, Dan, of Mathews, VA; Joyce Parker of Colonial Heights, VA and Keith Dobson and wife, Becky, of Reedville, VA. Also surviving are her 6 grandchildren; Tony Mackin of Hopewell, VA; Jennifer Dobson and husband, Theo Hall, of Richmond, VA; Kim Vogel and husband, James, of Colonial Heights, VA; Ross Hemp of Richmond, VA; Brad Hemp of Richmond, VA and Jessica Chester and husband, Ben, of Athens, GA. Her grand-daughter, Stacy Parker, preceded her in death in March 2006. She is also survived by her eight great grand-children and a husband, Meredith Lynn, of Wake, VA. She was born in Amelia County on September 17, 1922 to parents Urby and Pearl Barnard. She is survived by a brother, William Barnard and his wife, Martha, of Amelia, VA; sister Arlene Worsham and her husband, Stanley, of Amelia, VA and sister Elsie Garrett and her husband, Dennis, of Blackstone, VA. She was preceded in death by her sisters Iris McMillian, Ruby Bair, Gloria ONeal and her brother Russell Barnard. She lived most of her life in Richmond, VA and worked in sales for Thalhimers Department Store until her retirement. Her love of gardening, fishing, traveling and, especially, dancing kept her active and youthful until the onset of Alzheimers eight years ago. The family would like to thank the faculty of Commonwealth Assisted Living in Kilmarnock, VA for the wonderful care they provided our mother for the past five years. Services will be held on Wednesday March 31, 2010 at 12Noon at the graveside of The Little Flock Church, Amelia, VA In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimers Association or a charity of your choice
