Barney W. Jones, age 95, of Ivor, Va. formerly of Amelia, Va. passed from this life on Feb. 7, 2021.  He is preceded in death by his wife; Margaret,  and his parents Junis  and Annie Zuidema Jones and is survived by his daughter; Deborah McPherson ( Rick) of Ivor, and his son; Barney L. Jones of Norfolk, Va., grandsons; Tad Jones of Virginia Beach, Va., Charlie Dakos of Richmond, Va., great grandchildren, Allen Jones, Allee Snader of Fla., and brother Dale Jones of Virginia Beach, Va.   Barney served with the Merchant Marines during WWII from  1942-1951 and was retired from VandeRiet Construction Company.  Funeral services will be private at the Epworth UMC in Amelia with interment following in the church cemetery.  He will lie in state at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St. in Amelia on Thurs. from 12 noon to 5PM.  Contributions may be made to the Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad P.
