Beverly-Jo Esther LaPastora

February 13, 1984 – March 9, 2014

Gone with Jesus to His Father's house, Beverly-Jo passed away quietly from an illness on Sunday morning, March 9, 2014.  Born in Richmond, Beverly-Jo (aka Bev) lived in Chesterfield most of her life.  She attended L. C. Bird High School and after graduation, she continued her education at Medical Careers Institute.  She earned an Associate of Health Sciences degree, graduating Summa Cum Laude.  Bev worked briefly for Tri-Cities Gastroenterology as a Medical Assistant, followed by a year of employment at Family Practice - Retreat Hospital in Richmond.  She then took time from pursuing her medical career interests to raise her three young sons.  Bev had a strong faith in the Lord and preferred non-denominational worship.  She was strongly committed to donor and volunteer causes.  Bev will be greatly missed by family and friends, most especially the young children for whom she provided child care.  Beverly-Jo is survived by three sons, Jeremy, Jason, and Jordan Fowkes; her mother Mary Dolores LaPastora; brother R. Aaron LaPastora; sisters ChristyWoodson, Alyssa Miller, and Shannon Ashburn;  grandmothers, Mabel Grace Lapastora and Dorothy Christine Ashburn; aunts Esther Wirt, Beverly LaPastora, Joann Patrick, Margaret Foch Lapastora, and Judy Ashburn; uncles Claudio, James, and Robert Lapastora, and Dennis and Russell Ashburn; and numerous cousins and in-laws.  To honor Bev's memory, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating time and resources to someone in need or an organization of choice. Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 15, at 1PM at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home in Amelia, Va.
