Charles Enoch "Buster" Dodson age 92 of Amelia, VA. passed from this life on Sept. 20, 2014. He was born to John Egbert and Nonnie Whittington Dodson on Aug.15, 1922 in Amelia. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ollie Easter Dodson, born to Lewis and Nettie Keener Easter on May 10, 1922 in Amelia. He is survived by his son, John Charles Dodson and daughter-in-law Robin, of Nottoway, VA., and his daughter, Pauline Hillsman of Richmond, VA., grandsons, Amos G. Dodson, (Megan) of Warsaw, IN., and J.E.B Hillsman of Amelia, great grandson Nathan O. Hillsman of Amelia, one sister Sarah Lee Dodson Kerr of Amelia, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Charles was preceded in death by his brother, James Waldo Dodson.
Charles proudly served his country throughout World War II in the 3 rd Battalion of the 394 th Infantry Regiment. After the war, Charles was a dairy farmer for over 50 years. Charles was an Elder, Deacon, Treasurer and Sunday school teacher at Mattoax Presbyterian Church. Charles served on the Piedmont Planning Commission, Amelia Board of Supervisors, and the Soil and Water Conservation Board. Charles was an active member of the Ruritan Club, The Gideons and The American Legion.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to: Mattoax Presbyterian Church or Mattoax Cemetery.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Charles's many loving and dedicated caregivers.
