Charles Edward VandeRiet - March 10, 1945-July 26, 2021

On Monday July 26, 2021, Charles Edward VandeRiet. loving son, brother, and uncle, passed away at the age of 76.  Known to most as Eddie, he was the second child of Luther Paul  and Vivian Martin VandeRiet of Amelia, Va.  Eddie was a devoted member of Bethany Place Baptist Church where he sang in the choir for 50 years.  Eddie was an inspiration to able-bodied individuals with the determination and  fortitude he showed in managing his physical limitations.  He enjoyed rooting for the Atlanta Braves and watching classic Westerns on TV.  Eddie had a big appetite for food and life, and he enjoyed talking and meeting new people.  Eddie was preceded in death by his mother and father and sister Myra Dowda.  He is survived by his nephew Neill (Steve) Williams of Washington, DC and many cousins in Amelia and Powhatan. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Saturday July 31, at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St. in Amelia with burial following at Mattoax Cemetery.  Visiting at the funeral home Fri from 6-8PM
