Coleman Guthrie "Guff" Goodman, 84, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 1, 2014. Guthrie was born in Sunnyside, VA and was the son of the late Coleman and Charlie Goodman. Guthrie was an active member of the community of Amelia, VA for 59 years. Guthrie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Amelia Volunteer Fire Company, and a charter member or the Amelia Ruritan Club. Guthrie was actively involved in the Grove Cemetery Association, Cumberland, VA, and served as treasurer of the Restoration Fund. Guthrie is most remembered as co-owner and Vice President of Goodman Truck and Tractor in Amelia, with his brother Buck until his retirement in 2005. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley Goodman of Amelia; two daughters, Jane Kellam and her husband, Garnett of Mappsville, VA and Martha Hathcock and her husband Charlie of Richmond, VA; two granddaughters, Rachel and Hannah Kellam and future grandson-in-law, Andy Kloch; and sister, Caroline Warren of Richmond; as well as nephews and nieces, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death his brother Charles "Buck" Goodman, his sister-in-law, Nancy Blanton Goodman and his brother-in-law, Robert Warren. The family will receive friends at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home on Tuesday February 4, 2014 from 5-7PM. The funeral service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on February 5, 2014 at 12 noon with interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Amelia Va 23002, Amelia Volunteer Fire Dept, Amelia, Va. 23002 or Grove Cemetery Association, 349 Sunnyside Rd., Cumberland, VA. 23040-2621.
