Crawford Wayne Keener passed away on June 17, 2014 while working on his farm. He was born in Amelia County on November 8, 1927 to Crawford Keener and Elizabeth Easter Keener. He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. Upon his return to Amelia he began farming and continued to farm for the rest of his life. He was a member of the Amelia Masonic Lodge. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Charles E. Keener, and his sister Mary Lee Wulfson. He is survived by his wife Nellie Hall Keener, daughter Gayle Keener Posipanko, son-in-law Richard Posipanko, and son Gary Wayne Keener. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Amelia Academy, the Amelia County Rescue Squad or the Amelia County Fire Department. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday June 20, at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St., Amelia, VA, with burial in the Amelia Presbyterian Cemetery. , A Masonic Service is to begin at 6:00 p.m. Thursday with visitation to follow, lasting till 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
