Danny Ray
Queensberry
Sep 6, 1961 — Sep 11, 2026
Danny Ray Queensberry, Sr - a devoted father, proud Pee Paw, loving son, loyal friend, and a bright light to all who knew him - passed away on September 11, 2026, at the age of 65.
Born on September 6, 1961, in Richmond, VA, Danny grew up between the Canadian and Chase City Tobacco farms and eventually settling into Amelia, a community he loved calling home.
He lived a life anchored in love, laughter, and an extraordinary dedication to the people around him. To know Danny was to know what true friendship is.
Danny was a hard worker who took pride in his craft, spending his early years welding and later years working alongside the guys at Ponton's-a at both workplaces colleagues quickly became lifelong friends.
Of all the titles Danny held throughout his life, none brought him more joy than being a dad and a Pee Paw. He poured his heart into his children, instilling in them the values of hard work, good humor, and knowing how to bait a hook with a hot dog, build quality stuff, all while supporting them unconditionally through every chapter of their lives. When he became a grandfather, his world expanded in the best possible way. He wore his pride like a badge of honor, never missing a chance to cast a reel with them, give a lawnmower ride, share a story, or spoil his grandchildren.
As a son, he was a steady, deeply caring presence whose devotion to his family never wavered. As a friend, he was the kind of person you could call at any hour - dependable, quick to crack a joke, and always ready to lend a helping hand. He spent his days tinkering around the house, heading out fishing at his lake, looking forward to those daily phone calls with his sons or helping them with projects. Yet through it all, his happiest moments were simply spent surrounded by the people he loved most.
His memory will be cherished forever by his loving mother, Julia Firesheers, his children, Danny Ray Jr. and wife Madison, and Matthew and wife Alyssa; his beloved grandchildren, Brady, Clyde, Preston, and his little girl, Anna; his siblings Junior Queensberry and wife Jenny, Tony Queensberry and wife Ruth, Theresa Hatcher and husband Bobby; plus his niece and nephews Kelly, Justin, and Curtis as well as a wide circle of lifelong friends who became family along the way.
In lieu of a service and flowers, go fishing.
