Edward Lee Donathan Jr., age 77, of Glen Allen, VA, passed away peacefully the evening of March 7, 2025, due to complications from Progressive Supra-nuclear Palsy (PSP). He is survived by his sons Michael Donathan (wife Julie) and Gregory Donathan (wife Niki), both of Glen Allen; his beloved grandchildren Ryan, Annika, Abigail, and Zachary; brother Ronnie Donathan, and sister Pat Saunders.
Edward is preceded in death by the love of his life and soulmate Betty C. Donathan, his father Edward Donathan Sr., and mother Bernice Donathan.
Eddie served honorably in the Army from March 1969 to June 1971 as a Medical Corpsman specialist, receiving the National Defense Service Medal for his service during the Vietnam War. He loved his family and friends fiercely and without pause, enjoying music of all genres, action and country/western movies, and drawing. Above all, he loved his wife, children, and grandchildren with every ounce of his being.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 13 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St. in Amelia, Va. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 14 at 9:00 a.m., with burial and services to follow in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery.
