Elbert Allen Benfield, "Pop", age 78, of Richmond, formerly of Chase City, Va. passed from this life on Jan. 13, 2012. He is survived by his son, David Allen Benfield, of Richmond , daughters, Dinah Benfield of Richmond, and Janice Cifers of Amelia, brother, Hubert Benfield of Alexandria, sisters, Edith Hoyle of Chase City, and Ruby Layne of Richmond, seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was a longtime refrigeration technician in the Richmond area for many years and loved to view the historical parts of Richmond and the James River. Funeral services 11AM on Monday at Sandy Creek Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visiting at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral 16409 Court St. in Amelia from 4-6PM Sunday.
