Francis (Duke) Wellington Dickerson lost his fight for life September 13,2022.  He was predeceased by his daughter Ann Dickerson Powell, parents C.B. and Eula Dickerson, brothers Lawrence Alexander, Charles Dickerson, Carl Dickerson and sister Eleanor Purdy.  He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rachael Easter Dickerson, his sister Jerry Smith, his sons Wayne Dickerson and his wife Laura, Wade Dickerson and his wife Beverly. Grandchildren Taylor Powell and his wife Emily, Ryan Dickerson and his wife Emily, Conner Powell, Justin Lopus and his wife Meghan, Jennifer Adams and her husband Kyle and several great grandchildren.   At the age of 17 he joined the marines and served his country in the Korean Conflict.  He retired from Smurfit-Stone in Hopewell, VA after 29 years as a millwright.   A remembrance will be held Monday September 19th at 1:00 o'clock pm at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, VA 23002  followed by military honors by the Marine Corps League.
