With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Fred Edward Jibben, on January 4, 2025, at age 88, who joined eternal life. He was a devoted husband to Phyllis Jibben, a loving father to Tammy Wingo (Alvin) and Tracy Davis, and a cherished grandfather, affectionally known as "Papa" to Taylor Davis, Jeffrey Davis, Skylar Wingo, and Christian Wingo. Fred was known for his strong work ethic, gentle ways, and sense of humor and his passion for farming and pampering his grandchildren.
Fred served in both the United States Army and Army National Guard. He went on to pursue a successful career with Defense General Supply Center Richmond. Through his untiring efforts, attention to detail and personal experience, Fred established the installation as one of the best consolidated maintenance facilities in the Department of Defense. Upon retirement as the Chief of Facilities Planning and Equipment Management Division in 1997, Fred was among the first inducted into the Defense Logistics Aviation Hall of Fame.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward E. and Lena M. Jibben. His son, Gregory Edward Jibben and his sister, Minnie J. Boelt.
Mr. Jibben will be lying in repose at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home on January 8, 2025, from 2-4:00 PM, and the family will receive friends on January 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM. A funeral service will follow on January 9, 2025, at 1:00 PM, also at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home. Fred will be laid to rest alongside his son at Amelia Presbyterian Cemetery, 16401 Dunn St., Amelia Court House, VA 23002.
