George Morris Ashman, age 83, of Amelia, passed away on March 1, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lula Y. Ashman, daughter Barbara A. Maitland and son George M. Ashman; brothers Craig and Lewis Ashman; sisters Rachel Bowlin, Ann Merchant and Lillie Mae Byrd; grandchildren Laurie M. Mullins, George M. Ashman III and David A. Ashman; and great-grandchildren Emily Ashman, Logan Ashman and Reid Maitland. The family will receive friends on Wednesday March 3 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St. in Amelia. A Church service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday March 4, 2010 at Christ Episcopal Church in Amelia, with burial to follow at Grub Hill Cemetery.
