George Winfrey Hawkins, age 93, of Amelia, Va., passed from this life on January 23, 2021.   He is preceded in death by parents John Thomas Hawkins and Linda Talley Hawkins Talley; his brothers, Alfred, Calvin, Watson, Edward, Willard and John; and sisters, Jessie, Alice, Lois, Judy, and Annie.  He is survived by his wife of 70 plus years Shirley Ann Jones Hawkins and was a life time member of Piedmont Baptist Church.  Mr. Hawkins served his country honorably in the US Navy during WWII and was a retired Machinist with Dupont.   Graveside services will be held at 2PM on Wednesday January 27, 2021 at Union Baptist Cemetery 22110 Genito Rd. in Amelia.  Mr.  Hawkins will lie in state at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St. in Amelia on Tuesday from 12 Noon to 5PM.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Piedmont Baptist Church.
