George Lynch, age 81, of Amelia, VA, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025. Known affectionately by many as "Red," he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, US Army veteran, truck driver and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. George was the beloved husband of Dorothy Lynch. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Bo Lynch (Brittany), Randal Lynch (Gracie), and Pat Simmons (Frank). He was a cherished grandfather to Taylor Lynch, Jillian Lynch, Brayden Lynch, Kevin Lynch, Kelly Lynch, Matt Simmons, Darcy Jones, Brandon Lesher, Noah Lesher, and Keith Brazell. He is also survived by numerous other family and friends. George was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Johnson and George Lynch. A celebration of George's life will be held on Friday at 12:00 PM at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM. The committal service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia in Amelia Court House, VA. "Red," as he was known to many, had a passion for life and enjoyed many things, including NASCAR races, fishing, a perfectly cooked steak, and the soulful sounds of bluegrass music. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
