George W. Martin, age 89, of Amelia, passed from this life on Oct. 4, 2011. He preceded in death by his son, George Jr. Billy and is survived by his wife, Eva Arlene Martin, his daughter, Peggy Ann Hall of Amelia, brothers, Robert of Amelia, Marion of North Carolina, Lee of Florida, and Alton of Cumberland, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. George was a lifetime member of the Amelia Rescue Squad, a dairy farmer and carpenter, and a master heardsman. He was a devoted father to his family. Funeral services 11AM on Saturday Oct. 8, 2011 at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St. in Amelia with burial in the Little Flock Cemetery. Visiting at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00-8:00PM. Contributions may be made to the Amelia Rescue Squad.
