Gladys Thompson Dawson, age 91, of Amelia, passed away on September 28, 2023.  She is preceded in death by her husband Ledford and her granddaughter Amber Weyant. Gladys is survived by her children, Brenda Frost (Ron), Pam Hood (Terry), and Jimmy Dawson (Jean), all of Amelia; grandchildren Eddie Conner (Joanie), Timmy Conner (Tanya), Heidi Snyder (Jeremy), Crystal Farris (Adam), James Dawson (Samantha); sister Evelyn Melton of Glen Allen; nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  The family will receive friends on Monday Oct. 2 beginning at 12 noon at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St. in Amelia, with funeral service to follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Salem UMC Cemetery. The family invites you to Salem UMC, 11221 Clementown Rd. to share food and fellowship. The family wants to thank Gladys' caregivers and Hospice of Virginia for their love and care during her final days.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salem UMC, 5297 Cralles Rd., Amelia, VA 23002.
