Obituary

Glenn Richard "Edward" Hunter of Midlothian, VA, passed away at the age of 78 on December 21, 2022, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.  Ed was born in Newport, OR and was raised in Eureka, CA.  He graduated from Eureka High School.

As a child, Ed's family introduced him to his love of fishing as they were commercial whalers and fishermen.  Ed loved to fish and shared this passion with his son and grandsons.  After serving his country proudly in the United States Air Force, Ed married Marian Elizabeth Pope and together they had three children.  He had a successful career in the heavy construction industry and oversaw several large-scale projects, including the FBI building and the Pentagon metro station in Washington, D.C., and Wolf Trap Concert Hall in Vienna, VA.  In addition to fishing, Ed's hobbies included playing golf at Brandermill Country Club, where he was one of the early members.  He always loved to play in the annual Member-Guest tournament with his dad.  Ed also enjoyed spending time with his closest BCC friends playing cards.

Predeceased by his parents, Betty June Nelsen and Glenn Arthur Hunter, Ed is survived by his former wife, Marian Hunter, his children Candice Shelor (Wayne), Daniel Hunter and Kelly Carroll, his four grandsons Gregory Shelor, Claiborne Carroll Jr., Noah Carroll and Zachary Shelor and his sister Judith Thuney.  The family wishes to thank everyone in both Atlanta and Midlothian for their care, love and support.

A graveside service will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery Tuesday December 27, 2022 at noon.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ed's name to Wounded Warrior Project.
