Obituary

Herbert Calvin Lynch, age 81, of Amelia, went to be with his lord on September 8, 2011. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he retired from the American Tobacco Co after more than 30 years. He is survived by his sons, Wayne Lynch, wife Carol and grandson Caleb of York, PA, and Doug Lynch and wife Ann of Charlotte Court House, granddaughter Krystal L. Bryant and husband Robert, great grandson Aiden J. Bryant. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Lynch, parents, Levi and Mary Lynch and brother Raymond. Calvin was instrumental in the initiation and construction of the Painville Firehouse and was instrumental in the financing of the fire station well, donating his first social security check to dig it. Memorial contributions may be made to the Amelia Co. Volunteer Fire Dept. #5 of Painville, c/o Jim Bennett 12440 Fowlkes Bridge Rd., Amelia, VA 23002. Funeral Services will be held at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St., on Monday September 12, 2011 at 11:00a.m. with burial to follow at Union Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday September 11, 2011 from 2-5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
