Newport News - Hunter A. Merchant, 8mos, passed away unexpectedly September 13, 2021, at home. He was born January 5, 2021 in Henrico, the son of Justin Kane and Elizabeth Marie (Burleson) Merchant.

Hunter was a bundle of joy that was the life of the party. Always had a way to make you smile whether you wanted to or not. Hunter was only with us for a short time, but he loved his bunnies and loved it when we smiled.

Hunter is predeceased by John William and Elois Julia (Ortega) Seay(great grandparents) Debra Ann Merchant(grandmother) Robert Henry and Carrie  Elizabeth (Melton)Belcher(great grandparents).  Surviving are Justin Kane and Elisabeth Marie(Burleson) Merchant(parents) William James Merchant(brother) Jonathan Dudley Merchant Sr., Robin(Brown) Merchant, Kenneth James and Connie Elizabeth (Belcher) Burleson, Thomas Allen and Kris Marie (Belcher) Parrott (grandparents) Jessica and Robbie Bayne, Cassie and Chad Bonds, Jonathan and Kristina Merchant, Joshua Merchant, Jeffrey Merchant, Christopher Merchant (aunts and uncles) Sarah Walker, Preston Bayne, Lewis Walker, Zachary Bonds (cousins) and many more.

Services - A celebration of Hunter's life will be held at Journey Station, 19210 Patrick Henry Hwy. Amelia, VA 23002 on Thursday September 23 from 6pm-8pm. Those who wish to remember Hunter in a special way may make gifts in his memory to The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, Henrico Doctors Hospital NICU, or Journey United Methodist Church.
