James Elbert Barnard of Amelia passed away on August 25, 2009, his 55th birthday. Jim is survived by his wife, Jane Cooke Barnard, his children, Mary Anne and Jon Holbrook of Bristol, Adam A. Barnard of Amelia and Karen Kinney of Powhatan, and Peter C. Barnard and Kasey Turner of Chesterfield and grandson, James Cole Barnard. He is also survived by his brothers, Kevin L. Barnard of Lewisville, NC, and Samuel E. Arrington, Jr. and wife Angela Hill Arrington and his nephew and five nieces all of Amelia, and his sister-in-law Gayle E. Cooke and brother-in-law Kevin Buckley of Cary, NC. Visitation will be at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home on Thursday, August 27 from 6-8 p.m. with a memorial service on Friday, August 28 at 2 p.m. at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home.
