James Spongross, age 81, passed from this life on August 20, 2009. He is survived by his wife; Maureen, daughters, Suzanne Zuccaro and husband Frank of Florida, Margaret Ann Hoffman of Florida, Kathy Wortman of Amelia, grand daughter, Justine Schenker. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday August 24 at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Midlothian with burial following in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia with military honors. Vistiing was at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home in Amelia on Sunday August 23 from 2-4 & 6-8PM. Mr. Spongross served his country honorably in the U. S. Navy during WWII.
