Major James R. Stanard, of Richmond passed away on April 13, 2013.  He is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kelly Ann and is survived by his wife, Phyllis and three children, Jeffery of Sturgis, MI., David of Richmond, and Jennifer Stanard Trimble and her husband Troy of Richmond, five grandchildren, Jamie, Jessica, and Eric Stanard, Rhiannon Aldridge and a step son Daniel Phillips, two great grandsons, Mikey Sheets and Seth Stanard, lots of nieces and nephews.  Major Stanard served in the U. S. Army and spent two tours in Vietnam as a security chief.  As a DOD civilian he had several duties in the intelligence and Security field.  After high school he joined the 4 ^th Marine division and spent a year in Korea.  The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8PM on Tuesday at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court ST. in Amelia, Va

.  Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Wed 11AM with burial in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery with military honors.  Contributions may be made to the Cancer Society.
