Joan Electa Hoyt McKinney born June 15, 1931, born in Worcester Massachusetts , spent her childhood in Essex Junction, Vermont, and a long time resident of Dublin Virginia and more recently Amelia VA went to join her Savior on May 17, 2009.

Preceded by her father, John Frederick Hoyt, her mother Marion Elizabeth Stone, her brother James F Hoyt, and her youngest son, John David McKinney

Married to James F McKinney Sr. on October 6, 1951. Children: Gloria J McKinney living in Powhatan, VA, James F McKinney Jr. married to Carol McKinney living in Beaver Dam, VA , Deloris Dee Smith living in Amelia, VA, Roger D McKinney married to Connie McKinney living in Chesterfield, VA, Michael A McKinney living in Chesterfield, VA., twelve grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean era and retired from Inland Motors, Radford VA. She attended Jetersville Baptist Church in Amelia VA.

Visiting at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St in Amelia, VA. on Thursday from 6:30-8:30PM and where services will be held on Friday at 2PM. Committal service will be Saturday May 23, at 1:30PM at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, VA. with military honors.
