John Kenneth King, 75, passed away peacefully on August 31 at 3:16 pm surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Fran King, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. He was a great partner and took his role as a husband seriously which is very rare these days
Born with a heart full of service, John proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard. His sense of duty extended well beyond his military career, as he dedicated countless decades to the Boy Scouts of America. A true outdoorsman, John loved camping and found joy in sharing his love of nature and adventure with others, particularly the many young people he mentored through scouting.
John's kindness and generosity were hallmarks of his character. His four sons, Doug, Scott, JK Jr., and Steven and 2 Daughter in laws Wendy and Ashlee fondly remember him as a gentle and steadfast presence, always ready to offer guidance and support. He was not only a father but a friend, a man who always had your back no matter the circumstance. He was a man's man and always was a great listener and friend and always had your back through tough times.
He was a proud grandfather to 5 beloved grandchildren, Savannah and Logan, Jordan, Alyssa, and Matthew,
who brought him immense joy. John cherished his time with them, and their bond was a testament to his gentle spirit and loving nature.
John leaves behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and service to others. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him.
A celebration of John's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday September 7 at Piedmont Baptist Church, 17740 Genito Road Amelia, Va. -with Pastor Jason Morris officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the US Coast Guard and Marine Corp League. Family and friends are invited to share memories and honor the life of this remarkable man and veteran.
