John Walter Sanderson, age 89, of Blackstone, formerly of Jetersville and Amelia passed from this life on December 3, 2020.   He is survived by his wife, Grace F. Sanderson and his son; Richard Keith Sanderson of North Carolina and is preceded in death by his parents; Luther and Mary Cole Sanderson, his sister; Dorothy Redford and his daughter; Susan Elizabeth Cope.  John was a retired realtor in Amelia, and was a founding member and chief of the Jetersville Fire Dept.  He also was a postal carrier in Amelia for several years and was retired after 20 years with the Virginia National Guard.   Graveside services will be held at 3PM on Sunday at the Amelia Presbyterian Cemetery with military honors following.  He will lie in state at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home Saturday from 10AM until 3PM and on Sunday from 12noon until 2:30PM.
