Obituary

John Teufel, Jr., 85, died on Oct. 10, 2011 at home in Midlothian, VA, of complications from multiple myeloma. He is survived by two children, Loral Hoagland (Roy) of Midlothian, VA & John Teufel, III of Bay Shore, NY; six grandchildren, Chris (Richmond, VA), Nicole (Phnom Penh, Cambodia), & Rachel (Midlothian, VA) Hoagland & John IV (Brooklyn, NY), Megan (Columbia, MD), & Mark (Bay Shore, NY) Teufel; & brother Warren Teufel (Alice) of Shoreham, NY. His wife of 59 years, Rose L. Teufel, predeceased him in May 2010. A graduate of Stevens Institute of Technology, Jack previously resided in West Islip, NY & worked as an engineer with Grumman Aerospace Corp. prior to his retirement. During his work with Grumman he assisted in the development of the LEM (Lunar Excursion Module) that explored the surface of the moon. He was a World War II veteran, former elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Babylon, past Commodore of the Babylon Yacht Club, & member of Swift Creek Presbyterian Church where a memorial service will be held on Oct. 14 at 11:00 a.m. (5900 Woolridge Road, Moseley VA). The Hillsman-Hix funeral home is handling arrangements & interment in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia. The family requests memorial donations in lieu of flowers to the VCU Massey Cancer Center, P.O. Box 980214, Richmond, VA 23298-0214 or the First Presbyterian Church of Babylon, 70 E. Main Street, Babylon, NY 11702.
