Joyce Elaine Barnard, age 57 of Blackstone, formerly of Amelia, passed away on February 21, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her husband Edward G. Barnard, Jr., her parents Carroll B. Patterson Sr. and Dorothy, and her brother Carroll Bennett Patterson Jr.  She is survived by her daughter Stephanie Newcomb and husband John Newcomb Jr. of Amelia; brother Mike Patterson of Powhatan, sisters Teresa Snead (CC) of Blackstone and Sandra Ryder (Jimmy) of Amelia; and grandchildren Kasey (Curtis), Kaylan, John Dylan Newcomb.  The family will receive friends on Friday February 25, from 6-8 p.m. at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St. in Amelia. A chapel service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday February 26 at the funeral home with private interment.
