Obituary

Katherine Green Moore, 93 widow of William D. Moore, Jr. and native of Amelia passed away peacefully at the Chesterfield Health Care Center in Midlothian, VA on April 14, 2012. She was predeceased by her parents, Herbert F. and Lottie W. Green and her brother, Herbert Green. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Charlotte G. Farrar, her four children, Barbara M. Wheeler, William D. Moore, III, Jeanne M. Tyler and Deborah Dobson and their spouses, as well as 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Mrs. Moore was born at the Glebe in Amelia County and then moved to Greenland in Amelia Courthouse where she lived until she married in 1940. She and Mr. Moore spent their lives together in love and faith until his death in 2001. They lived in many places, including many years in Richmond until they retired to Silver Springs Farm in 1967 to raise Tennessee Walking Horses and Black Angus cattle. Mrs. Moore was active in the Amelia Presbyterian Church, the Amelia County Garden Club and she took up oil painting and became quite an accomplished artist. She and Mr. Moore loved to have their family "come to the farm" for holidays, summer vacations, or just to sit on the porch and talk awhile. Friends and family were always welcome. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. Funeral Services will be held at the Amelia Presbyterian Church 16401 Dunn St. in Amelia, Va. 23002 on _Thursday April 19, 2012 at 3:00PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Arrangements by Hillman-Hix of Amelia. Guestbook is at www.hillsmanhix.com
