IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathleen Florence
Clark
September 1, 1918 – March 9, 2012
Kathleen Florence Clark of Amelia County, born in 1918, died on March 9, 2012. She was widely known as a master cake maker who produced the cakes for hundreds of weddings, birthdays, and other events. The masterpiece of which she was very proud was the celebratory cake made for Amelia's commemoration of its two hundred fiftieth anniversary. A lifelong member of the Amelia County Garden Club, Florence won many awards and created the floral centerpieces for numerous public events. She designed and made the floral arrangements for the Amelia Baptist Church for most of her life. Miss Clark had no close surviving relatives but left behind legions of friends and acquaintances. Specially noted among them are Mary Ellen Moyer, Mel and Connie Pemberton, Pat Burke and Helen Warriner-Burke, and Alice and Jimmy Presutti. Sincere special tribute is extended to Ellen Weaver, her dedicated caregiver during her last days. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 p.m on Monday March 12, at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home in Amelia, and the service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday March 13, at Amelia Baptist Church. Interment will follow the ceremony at Skinquarter Baptist Cemetery in Moseley. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, P.O. Box 758, Amelia, VA 23002. Checks should be directed to Hospice Care or to the Amelia County Garden Club for the memorial garden.
