Kermit L. Wood, age 83, of Amelia, passed from this life on February 13, 2016.  He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Patsy June Wood, sons, Kermit Wayne Wood and Kenneth Edward Wood, daughter, Linda June Simmons all of Chester, sisters, Mildred Adeline Pearson of Farnham, Va., Mary Elizabeth Cozart of Chesterfield, and Shirley Ann Kump of Richmond.  Also survived by two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Kermit was an Army veteran having served in Alaska, retired from Allied (Honeywell) and drove a bus for Amelia Academy upon until his death. He loved baseball from  childhood and was fan of the Atlanta Braves. Funeral services will be held on Thursday Feb. 18, 2016 at 1:00 PM. At the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St. in Amelia, Va. with burial following in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery with military honors.  The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.  Guestbook at www.hillsmanhix.com
