Larry Dean Lunsford, age 91, of Amelia Court House, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025. He was born on November 16, 1933, in Blytheville, Arkansas, to Nora Lunsford, and was one of 13 siblings who grew up in a loving and close-knit family.Larry dedicated his life to serving others, both in his professional and personal pursuits. He worked in the field of electronics for DuPont, where he applied his skills and expertise for many years. A proud veteran, Larry served in the United States Air Force from August 25, 1952, to February 24, 1957, during the Korean War conflict. He reached the rank of Airman First Class and carried the values of service and dedication throughout his life.For 25 years, Larry generously gave of his time at the Hanover Detention Center, teaching and mentoring young men every Sunday and on Wednesdays when possible. His passion for teaching and nurturing those in need exemplified his compassionate spirit, and he was known for his gentle demeanor and unwavering faith.Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Linda Lunsford, three devoted children: sons Gary Lunsford and Kevin Lunsford, and daughter Gwendolyn Butler. He cherished his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather, leaving behind six grandchildren-Melissa, Brian, Ashley, Abram, Amanda, and Victoria-and seven great-grandchildren-Ben, Lucas, Dean, Knotts, Emily, Annie Grace, Justis, Ariana, Dominique, and Adriel. His family will forever remember the love and laughter he brought into their lives.Having longed to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ, Larry now rests in eternal peace. The public is invited to join the community in honoring Larry's life at Arbor Baptist Church, where a public viewing will take place on July 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Following the service, Larry will be laid to rest at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, in a private service.In this time of profound loss, the family takes solace in the memory of Larry's legacy of kindness, love, and unwavering faith. He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.
