Davis, Margaret Campbell born on July 23, 1939 in Amelia County, Virginia went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Gardner Campbell and Delia Martin Campbell, and her brothers, James Linwood Campbell and Herbert Everett Campbell. She is survived by her son, Thompson Elder Davis III, his wife, Allison Beck Davis and her grandson (due in June); and her sisters, Pauline Campbell Gatewood and Mildred Campbell Maxey; and her many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was a graduate of King College and worked tirelessly for 38 years as a social worker to improve others' lives. She was an active member of Amelia Baptist Church and a strong supporter of several Christian missions and educational activities, including teaching and directing Sunday school classes, Samaritan's Purse (especially shoeboxes for children at Christmas), the ABC Pre-school (where she anonymously provided scholarships), the Women's Mission, and raising money for a vehicle for medical transport in Africa. She often spoke of her love for the church and the community of family and friends that blessed her life in Amelia.

She was a kind, generous, and immensely loving mother. Her love, gentleness, and spiritual beauty also soothed and encouraged all who knew her. We pray that the memories loved ones have will continue to do so. It is her wish that instead of sadness, we share in a celebration for a life well-lived.

Visitation will be at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 . There will be a joyful celebration of her life on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Amelia Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Rennie Memorial Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in her name to Samaritan's Purse.
