Martha Joan Rochelle Love, 86, passed peacefully on December 20, 2022 surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death, by her husband Albert Eugene Love, her father and mother, William and Mary Rochelle (McIntosh), and three brothers  Joan was the eldest of six siblings. She met the love of her life on a sunny beach in South Carolina marrying him on February 1st, 1960 in Greensboro, NC. They later moved to Virginia where they raised four children.  Joan had many hobbies. She was a talented artist, loved a good romance book with a little bit of mystery, and spent many hours crocheting precious baby hats. Trailblazing in the 70's, she found a passion for work as mortgage processor, even continuing to work into her late 70s at Chula Junction.  She had a deep love for people and her best friend, fierce protector, and beloved dog, Boo Boo. She was a compassionate and generous grandmother to twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. She will be dearly missed. Joan is survived by her children, Kathy Bayne (Robert), Chuck Love, Johnny Love (Sharon), Barbara Edwards (Rob).  Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Friday December 23, 2022 at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home with interment following at Mattoax Cemetery.
