Mary White Ashman, 94, of Amelia, died August 20, 2010 at her home. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby A. Norman and a great granddaughter Monica M. Ashman. She is survived by her husband of 77 years, J. Craig Ashman; a daughter Gail A. Harris and her husband Ron of Buena Vista; a son Eddie Ashman and his wife Ann of Amelia; a sister Kitty W. Byrd of Chesterfield; 8 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and 8 great, great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Grub Hill Episcopal Church, Amelia with interment in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, Amelia. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Grub Hill Episcopal Church Cemetery Fund, 12690 N. Lodore Road, Amelia, VA 23002.
