Mary Ann Bryant Age 66, of Amelia Virginia, passed away on January 1st, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Mary was born in Payson, Utah in 1959, the second oldest of ten children. In 1971, she moved with her family to Preston, Idaho, graduating from Preston High School in 1977. As a young adult she served as a member of the National Guard, completing her Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina in 1978. She also studied at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho.
In 1981, Mary enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Intelligence Analyst with top secret clearance. Her military assignment took her to Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado, where she met and married Stephen Johnston (deceased). Later, she completed Officer Candidate School, and was sent to Virginia, where she remained after her honorable discharge from the Army in 1984.
For the majority of her life, Mary worked as a Senior Title Officer for Stewart Land Title Services, LLC in Richmond, Virginia. She was a loving mother to her son, Patrick Bryant, who resides in Norfolk, Virginia. She also operated a farm, where she raised goats and coastal hay. Mary's Facebook page features a picture of her atop her orange Kubota tractor. She was deeply passionate about her work and maintaining her self-reliance.
Mary will be remembered for her independence, determination, and dedication to excellence, and for the quiet strength she carried throughout her life.
Her memorial and remembrance will be in Amelia,Va at the Salem Cemetery on June 21 2026.
