Doctor Mary Allen Reid Klinedinst, 81, of Burkeville, Virginia previously of Supply, NC passed away peacefully from this life to heaven on June 22. She was born in Staunton, Virginia to the late Mary Allen Reid and James Knox Reid. She spent her life as an educator. She began her career as a middle and high school English teacher in Florida. She furthered her education with a masters degree and then later a doctorate degree from Florida Atlantic University. She served as an elementary principal at Fleetwood Elementary School in Pennsylvania then moved on to the Chair of the Department of Educational Foundations at Millersville University, Pennsylvania. She served as coordinator of planning and then On-site Director for three years, for the first PA Governor's School for Teaching in PA and the nation. In addition, she served for three years as the State Director of the Pennsylvania Governor's Schools of Excellence for PA Department of Education. She authored the book: Teachers for Tomorrow: The Pennsylvania Governor's School for Teachers. She was much respected and beloved by her colleagues. After retirement, she and her husband, Rob moved to Supply, North Carolina. She was very active in the Lockwood Folly Community. She enjoyed reading, walking, shelling, playing bridge, Bible study, golf, helping at the coat closet at her church, and organizing golf events. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Courtney Klinedinst, Sr., sisters, Harriet Reid Torres and Neilson Reid Gallagher as well as her nephew Reid Swindler. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Karen(Chip) Berry and stepson, Robert, Jr.(Jennifer), step grandsons Paul Berry, Samuel Klinedinst and step granddaughter Krystal Berry. She is also survived by her nieces Terry (Glenn) Walters, Kim (Eliot) Ried-Fischer, Katie Sullivan, Malia Torres and nephew James Gallagher (Lisa). She is also survived by her great nieces Meagan LeVelle (Chris), Allison Hoover, Bekka Hess, and great nephews Andrew Hess, Kirk Fink, and Aaron Fink. Mary, Aunt Mary, Grandmother Klinedinst, and Mimi will be greatly missed by family and friends. We thank all of the nurses and staff at Hickory Hill Retirement Community for all their care and love towards Miss Mary. There will be a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church, Shallotte, NC, the American Heart Association, or Millersville University School of Education.
