Michael Kent Skelton (1955-2025) Michael Kent Skelton was called home to be with the Lord the morning of December 27th, 2025, after a 2 ½ fight with esophageal cancer. He served in the Marine Corps (1974-1979) reaching the rank of Seargent before being honorably discharged due to a spinal cord injury. After recovery, he was active in wheelchair basketball, veteran games, and VA wheelchair Olympics. He is remembered by his children for his quiet strength, witty humor, resilience and the way he cared for and loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Betsy Skelton, his three children, Kimberly Haywood (Seth), Jonathan Skelton (Mackenzie), Rebecca Marshall (Timothy), grandchildren Lucas, Charlotte, Lila, Samual, Lucy, Annabelle Haywood, Michael S. Skelton, and Cecil Marshall, sister Lauren Knochi (Michael), brother Marshall Skelton, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Joan Skelton (2019), father Richard Skelton (12/23/25), and brother Warren Skelton (2023) In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Sandy Creek Baptist Church, New Life - Powhatan, or Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA)
